Here is a sampling of our most requested trainings.

The McKenzie A.C.T.I.O.N. Plan – A Primer for Leadership Effectiveness

This is the foundation upon which the rest of the training programs are based. An effective leader must take ACTION all of the time.

  • Approach problems proactively
  • Clearly communicate expectations and rationale
  • Take the initiative to provide feedback
  • Involve others in problem solving
  • Overemphasize listening and understanding
  • Never focus on the person, but the situation, issue or behavior

Leaders Taking SMARTER ACTION – A common sense approach to process improvement

This program combines six 4-hour training sessions with project work directly related to the participant’s actual work environment.

This program starts with The ActionPlan foundation but takes a slightly different track than most training programs by utilizing SMARTERgoals and objectives (most of you have seen the SMART goals – but McKenzieHR wants our clients to work SMARTER)

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Attainable
  • Relevant
  • Timely
  • Energizing
  • Remarkable

After each session, the participants are given work assignments that immediately reinforce the learning by utilizing what was learned on the project selected. Participants will come to realize the value of measuring tasks and results, processes will be improved and cost savings will be realized. The participants’ managers will also be involved throughout the training to oversee progress on the attainment of the project goals and objectives and provide ongoing feedback.

Implementing a High Performance Workplace

The primary traits of a High Performance Workplace are: Trust, Commitment, Enthusiasm and Support. These traits must be apparent throughout the organization. In this session, participants will come away with action items to enhance all of these traits in your organization.

Hiring the Right Fit through Strategic Interviewing

Hiring the right people the first time saves time and money. In this program we will review the cost of turnover and hiring people who are not a good fit for the job and the organization. The participants will be given interviewing tips including information on behavioral interviewing techniques, conducting reference checks and following up with candidates to increase your hiring success. This is a 4-hour course that includes a learning guide, practice interviews and a review of legal and illegal questions.

Harassment and Discrimination Training

The best way to stay out of court for harassment or discrimination is to have a policy, ensure that the employees are trained, and have a well-defined complaint procedure spelled out in that policy. McKenzieHR will train all of your employees in their rights and responsibilities on reporting harassment and discrimination and will be at your side in the event of an employee complaint.

Delivering WOW! Customer Service

With this proven method of training, employees will be better equipped to provide world class service to your customers. Participants come away with an increased awareness of the importance of their job, tools to deal with difficult customers and an enhanced understanding of the importance of teamwork to achieve unparalleled business success.

Coaching, Counseling and Discipline

The purpose of coaching, counseling and discipline is not to punish employees but to salvage good employee. One of the top ten ways of avoiding employee issues is to weed out the bad performers. But, also one of the most rewarding parts of a supervisor’s job is to transform the so-so employee into a superstar. This program is based on the fair and consistent treatment of employees. The participants will learn the merits of doing their homework and getting all of the facts before meting out discipline. Participants will be given a number of exercises, case studies, role plays and a checklist of things to review before talking to an employee about performance deficiencies,

Conducting Effective Performance Reviews

Performance appraisals are probably the most stressful things managers encounter. Learn techniques to help reduce the stress level of the reviewer and the employee being reviewed, enhance the communication process, set realistic goals and measurements and improve future performance levels.

Understanding & Reducing Conflict

Participants use various conflict inventories to help identify the team’s strengths and weaknesses, increase productivity and efficiency, improve the way the team members interact, and improve their ability to solve problems. Once the trust levels have improved, team members can then have more meaningful strategic discussion of issues impacting the workplace. The learning is supplemented with a workbook and role plays. This is a 4-hour session and is a must for all employees who deal with conflicts. This program can be customized for any situation and industry as well as customer service situations. Members come away with a better understanding of their role in resolving conflict and best practices that work.

Effective & Healthy Communications

Appropriate communication must be effective in getting the message across and healthy in leaving both parties feeling respected. In this workshop, McKenzieHR helps participants distinguish between passive, assertive and aggressive speech, read verbal and non-verbal behavior, improve written and oral communication, and tailor their message based on the needs of the audience. Employees learn to speak clearly & concisely, use tact & diplomacy and give better feedback to others.

Managing Stress

In today’s work environment, stress is inevitable. A measure of a person’s success on the job is often measured by the way they deal with stress. This program helps the employees see where their sources of stress lie, the consequences stress has on their mental and physical well-being and ways to minimize the impact stress has on their daily lives.
